Most compatibility / stability problem of iMovie seems to be related to Quicktime components. Getting rid of 3rd party codec or component usually sove this kind of trouble. Not from my own experience, just a pattern I recognize from many places.

I have a friend that bought one of those cameras some weeks ago it is amazing and now he is like a little kid because he take videos every single moment.

It is nice to hear that it supports imovie because it is a pretty amazing software.Even you can use it on ipod touch.
